  • 12 inch x 12 inch Sheet
  • White UHMW porous polyethylene

This high quality porous polyethylene is used in our in-house machine shop to manufacture the FlyStuff Flypad. We have made this product available to the Drosophila research community so that they may make their own apparatus or resurface an existing apparatus.

Sold by the contiguous linear foot from a 12in. roll. Custom sizes can also be cut. Please call or email for details.

Material Polyethylene Plastic

1. Using a razor blade, carefully make a 1in long cut between the acrylic base and porous plastic pad. 2. Using a flathead screwdriver, pry the plastic pad from the acrylic. Note you may want to repeat steps 1 and 2 on all four sides of the pad. 3. Once you have removed all (or most) of the porous plastic sheet, carefully use a razor blade to cut away any excess adhesive and porous plastic. This ensures your resurfaced Flypad has a tight seal to prevent any carbon dioxide leakage. 4. Cut the porous plastic sheet as close to the size of the Flypad as you can. 5. Apply adhesive (We use Loctite 454 glue) along outer edge of Flypad. 6. Clamp the porous plastic to the acrylic base and allow to dry for 24 hours 7. Remove the clamps and use sandpaper to grind down porous plastic flush to the edges of the acrylic base.
