This year’s winner will receive:
A $300 Commission

Featured at DRC 2027
Your artwork will be printed on postcards and distributed to attendees at the 68th Annual Drosophila Research Conference in Philadelphia.
Your Work in the Spotlight
We’ll feature you and your artwork on Genesee Scientific’s website and social media and add your work to our permanent Drosophila Art Gallery. Include your social media handles with your submission if you’d like us to tag you.
What are the requirements for the artwork?
There are three main requirements for the final piece:
Make Drosophila the star
Your artwork must feature or include a fruit fly (Drosophila). The fly does not need to be 100% anatomically correct, and you are free to be as creative as possible, but it should be easily recognizable as a fruit fly.
Incorporate the Genesee “G”
Include the “G” from the Genesee Scientific logo somewhere in your artwork. It can be creatively integrated into the piece, but should remain recognizable and proportional.
Design for the final format
Your artwork must be able to scale to fit a 5.5 × 8.5-inch format without cropping, distortion, or loss of important elements.
How to submit
Give your masterpiece a name and email your artwork to mbrosche@geneseesci.com with the subject line “Fly Art Contest.” Include your name and contact information along with your submission.
Maximum file size: 8 MB
Social media: Include your social media handles
if you’d like us to tag you.
Submissions will be evaluated on originality, creativity,
and their celebration of Drosophila research.
The winner will be notified in December.
