Dextrose has been used as a component in a basic medium to incubate goat mammary epithelial cells (GMEC) for glucose stimulation. Dextrose is also commonly used in mice to perform glucose-stimulated insulin secretion test (IST) and to quantify serum insulin by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
