Waymouth's MB 752/1 was designed and developed specifically for the cultivation of mouse L929 fibroblast cells in an exclusively chemically defined synthetic medium in a serum-free environment. Today's Waymouth's applicability is much more extensive and includes the establishment of carcinoma cell lines from pleural effusions and the growth of potentially tumorigenic cells. It is also used for whole organ culture.
